Administrative Positions Selection/Hiring Process:
Applications for administrative positions are reviewed by the Associate Superintendent for Human Resources as well as other LPS administrators. When an applicant has been selected as a finalist, the Human Resources Department will contact that applicant and invite him/her for an interview.
When screening is completed for a particular position, the Human Resources Office will contact finalists to set interview appointments. For administrative positions, travel and other expenses incurred for finalist interviews are paid by Lincoln Public Schools.
The interview is actually a series of interviews, but will include an audiotaped interview in the Human Resources Department. Other interviews may be with committees consisting of staff members who will be working for or with the individual selected. Feedback from each interview committee is collected and considered in the final step of the selection process. An administrative candidate may choose to be considered only for specific, current vacancies or may ask to have the application continued if not selected for the current vacancies. Those who choose to remain as active applicants will be considered when subsequent administrative vacancies are announced.

Most LPS administrators must be certificated by the Nebraska State Department of Education. If you are not currently certificated in Nebraska, you will need to obtain appropriate certification when and if you are offered an administrative position. Nebraska has a basic skills competency and human relations requirement which must be met prior to applying for permanent certification.
