The Lincoln Downtown Sertoma Club annually recognizes ten individuals from the Lincoln Public Schools Special Education staff.  Selection of the nominees is based upon their exemplary contributions to the field of special education and the students they serve.

Gold Star Awards

The Lincoln Public Schools Foundation honors staff members at the Gold Start Salute, which is held annually. The 2005 Salute was held on May 4, 2005. The following staff members were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the education of children with disabilities:

Marjorie Moore Award

The Marjorie L. Moore Award is a means of recognizing special education staff for outstanding contributions to the field and the students they serve.  The award is in honor of Marjorie Moore, a long time special education staff member.

The award recipient demonstrates their contributions to special education by:

Commitment Has students and education as a primary focus.
Vision Sees potential in all individuals and values all people and their differences.
Innovation Is aware of current and future trends within education.
Inspiration Displays positive interactions with students and parents and actively influences peers with their energy and enthusiasm.

Nebraska State Association Outstanding Autism Educator of the Year

This award is presented on an annual basis to an outstanding educator in the area of autism.

 
Ruth I. Eickman Outstanding Early Childhood Educator Award
This award is given each year to recognize an outstanding early childhood staff member. The 2005 recipient of this award was Vicki Gratopp , Early Childhood Special Education Child Study Team member. Congratulations, Vicki!
