LPS drama students star at state theater awards show

Omaha Performing Arts presented its Nebraska High School Theater Academy Showcase on June 7. More than 70 schools from across the state competed at the event, held at the Orpheum Theater.

Students from Lincoln Public Schools played a starring role, winning numerous awards:

Outstanding Achievement in Stage Management

Southwest is the only high school in the state to win both Outstanding Musical Theatre Production and Outstanding Ensemble for each of the last five years.

The Showcase Ensemble brings together students from across the state to work with Broadway artists as they prepare in the opening and closing numbers. Teachers at participating schools are invited to select two outstanding students to join the Showcase Ensemble each year. Here were this year’s students from LPS:
