Inspire Award Spotlight: Isabela Meza, Mickle Middle School

This is the second in a series of four videos, recorded pre-COVID-19, that feature winners of the Inspire Award from the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools.

Isabela Meza has overcome many life challenges in the past two years, but that’s only made the to-be eighth-grader at Mickle Middle School even more focused on succeeding in the classroom.

“It’s been really hard but through this I always try to make the best of it. I think of myself as a leader because I’m usually pretty good at paying attention and getting good grades,” said Meza, who can probably be found playing soccer or her snare drum when she’s not studying.

Meza is the 2020 Inspire Award student winner from Mickle. The Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools annually honors students and staff from across LPS, as well as one Inspire School award winner. Award recipients are identified by principals from every school, with the focus on selecting an individual who has made a special contribution to the school and the school community. These individuals regularly go above and beyond, take initiative and are a positive inspiration to others.
