Lincoln CLCs receive 2022 Spirit of Lincoln Neighborhood Award

Lincoln Community Learning Centers (CLCs) was honored with the 2022 Spirit of Lincoln Neighborhood Award given by NeighborWorks Lincoln during the annual Opening Doors Event on Sept. 22. The award under the Strengthening Neighborhoods Group category highlights a formal association or grassroots movement working to strengthen Lincoln neighborhoods.

"This recognition is so important to our team because it's an honor that CLCs commonly don't receive,” Lincoln Community Learning Centers Director Nola Derby-Bennett said. “People mostly know us for our work with students before and after school hours, but we do so much more. Our team knows students are more successful when surrounded by thriving families and strong neighborhoods. Environmental stability helps student success. This award from NeighborWorks Lincoln embodies the mission of our work."

NeighborWorks Lincoln is a community housing development non-profit that works to increase affordable housing and build strong neighborhoods. LPS was one of seven 2022 Spring of Lincoln Neighborhood Awards recipients.

“Thank you to NeighborWorks Lincoln for recognizing the collaboration between our schools and community partners to create programs and supports that help our students and families be successful,” LPS superintendent Paul Gausman said. “When schools, families and neighbors work together to wrap their arms around our students, everyone wins.”

LPS currently has 30 CLCs across the school district in elementary, middle and high schools.
