Preventative Maintenance Description
Preventive Maintenance (PM) Procedures
The District will compensate industrial technology teachers for PM at the negotiated repair/PM rate. Resale accounting and general lab upkeep is considered by the District as inherent in the ITE teacher’s general teaching responsibilities.
ITE teachers may choose to participate in PM within the proposed guidelines. If you will not be participating, please inform your department chair or contact person so other PM arrangements can be made. ITE teachers will be compensated for PM hours logged beyond the normal contract day or on
non-contract days.
Electrical
Cords, plugs, junction boxes, switches, wire grommets, etc. are operational and in safe and acceptable condition. Motors are clean, free from dust, dirt, and grease, all cover plates are in place, and the motor is free from arching.
Guards
All belts, pinch points, and cutting devices are guarded with factory supplied guards that are operational and in proper working condition.
General Machine Condition
All machine parts are properly attached and free from defect, the machine is placed in a level position and free from vibration, all bolts, nuts, and fasteners are properly torqued and the machine is clean and free from dust, and other foreign substances. All tables, surfaces, fences, etc. are in proper alignment operational condition
Drive Belts
All drive belts are properly tensioned, free from grease and/or oil, and in proper operational condition.
Cutting Devices
All blades, bits, and other cutting tools or devices for this piece of equipment are properly sharpened and in good operational condition. Cutting tools currently attached to the equipment are properly attached and guarded.
Dust Collection
Where appropriate, dust collection equipment is in place, properly connected, and fully operational.
Area Surrounding the Piece of Equipment
The surrounding area provides a safe cushion of space, is free from obstructions, and the floor is properly conditioned to prevent slippage hazards.
Operations Documentation
Appropriate operational information in print and/or other forms is readily available for all users of this piece of equipment to reference.
Lubrication
All moving parts that require lubrication are properly lubricated and clean.
Hourly Log
Please log only the hours allotted for the month. DO NOT log additional time, as no compensation can be made for additional hours.
